Unique Therapies & & Approaches

The Berman Center specializes in evidence-based individual and group treatment. Each therapy we use is grounded in the idea of community, a soul-to-soul connection, with a spiritual emphasis.

Individual Therapy

As an outpatient facility, you do have access to individual counseling sessions, which can give you a chance to develop a personal working relationship with your therapist, explore things that may have contributed to addiction or mental health disorders in your past, and work to meet your recovery and treatment goals moving forward.

Group Therapy

Group therapy sessions are the cornerstone of our outpatient Georgia mental health facilities. Many of our group therapy options are designed to provide education about addiction or mental health disorders so that you can make informed decisions moving forward. These group sessions give you a chance to interact with individuals going through similar issues, share with them, and learn from them. Some examples include:

  • Relapse prevention counseling
  • Psychoeducation
  • ACT
  • CBT
  • DBT
  • Life Skills

We offer a wide range of group therapy sessions, and no matter which program you choose, you have ample chances each time you come to our treatment center to choose electives that fit your needs at that time.

For example, we offer trauma-informed therapy, but this might look different from one client to the next. You might choose to try Trauma Art electives, a chance to work through untreated trauma with art therapy. We provide mindfulness services that can similarly look different from one client to the next. You might participate directly in a mindfulness elective or something like Looking in the Mirror or Power of Positivity.

Experiential Therapy

All of our treatments are founded on Jewish principles of connection, community, and positive, fulfilling life. These goals are achieved through a range of available experiential therapies like the following:

  • Mindfulness
  • Yoga
  • Solution-focused and goal-oriented therapy
  • Psychodrama therapy
  • Expressive arts
  • Art therapy
  • Body image therapy
  • Music therapy

Stories of Hope

WHAT WE OFFER

Levels of Care

Our facilities can accommodate different schedules, addictions, mental health disorders, and ages.

Partial Hospitalization

This is an adult program at our Georgia treatment center. This program lasts ten weeks. During this program, you can expect one hour per week of one-on-one counseling, with the remaining nine to twenty-five hours per week dedicated to group sessions.

If you participate in this program, you’ll be expected to come to our Georgia mental health treatment center every day of the week. During your time, you get access to our facilities from 10:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. for the first few weeks of your program.

We design our partial hospitalization programs to work with the step-down approach so the end of your treatment at our facility will transition you into a less demanding schedule. You might find that in the last four weeks of your treatment, you only receive treatment two days per week instead of five.

At our mental health and addiction treatment center in Georgia, clients receiving PHP Georgia Mental Health Services have meals provided. We use restaurant delivery services so that you have a wide variety of meal choices from which to choose on a daily basis. If you have nutritional concerns or mental health issues related to eating disorders, we also have a registered dietitian who can provide nutritional counseling and help you make healthy choices that put you in the best position for recovery and success.

Mental Health IOP

This program is for adults. Our Atlanta IOP services last eight weeks. During this program, you can expect one hour of individual counseling along with group therapy for the remainder of your services.

When you come to our facility, you’ll meet at 10:00 in the morning, and you can expect a typical schedule to take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a few hours each day, during which time you’ll get to participate in group therapy and electives of your choosing such as social skills, art, mindfulness, or family therapy.

Substance Abuse IOP

Our IOP in Atlanta for addiction provides addiction and dual diagnosis treatment programs. If you are struggling with addiction, our intensive outpatient programs give you an opportunity to treat addiction in isolation or co-occurring disorders on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The length of the program and typical daily schedule is very similar, but the types of therapies you receive will be individualized to your needs and include things like life skills, addiction education, and relapse prevention.

Ignite IOP for Teens

This program is designed specifically for teens, offering mental health counseling programs in Georgia at our facility. This program lasts eight weeks with a maximum of twenty-four other participants. Teens can expect one hour of individual counseling, with the remainder of their time dedicated to group sessions at our Georgia mental health treatment center.

When you finish your program, you get to continue participating in weekly alumni meetings as part of the IGNITE program at our Georgia mental health treatment center. These help promote connection through safe and supportive group activities and develop a sense of community.
