Georgia Mental Health Treatment Center
The Berman Center offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in Atlanta for individuals dealing with a variety of mental health issues – including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, schizoaffective disorders, and trauma and co-occurring substance abuse. Each client is assigned their own licensed counselor. Treatment begins with a unique plan of therapy sessions and community activities tailored specifically for each client.
As clients progress through the program, they move from an initial focus on gaining insight and working on past issues to a more present-centered, “here and now” focus. Later in the program, the focus shifts to the future as they work towards creating – or transitioning back into – a healthy and meaningful life. And, most importantly, what they need to do to stay well, long-term.
While there are no limits to the topics addressed during treatment, common issues include self-esteem and self-care, relationships, anger and resentments, family issues, getting through grief and loss, dealing with trauma, personal identity, sexual concerns, identity, spirituality/faith, and planning for the future.
The Berman Center offers anxiety treatment, bipolar disorder treatment, depression treatment, and much more.

Choosing Georgia Mental Health Services
Outpatient mental health facilities in Georgia, like The Berman Center, offer multiple levels of care, all of which give you the opportunity to spend structured time at our treatment center during the day but return home at night.
There isn’t a single type of outpatient mental health treatment. Instead, there are multiple levels, each of which is designed to function as part of a whole so that you can utilize a step-down approach, transitioning or stepping down into less demanding levels of care as you make progress in your treatment plan.
At our Atlanta mental health treatment center, you can participate in an eight-week IOP that gives you a few hours per day of structured outpatient services and ongoing alumni care once you complete your program. You will learn how to:
- Manage symptoms
- Identify triggers
- Overcome fears
- Improve communication skills
- Change your thought patterns
- Ground yourself in the present
- Boost self-esteem

What to Expect
Once you choose one of the mental health facilities in Georgia, you can expect a combination of individual therapy, group therapy, experiential therapy, and family therapy. Facilities like The Berman Center work with you to curate a personalized plan well, continuing to afford flexibility in the types of experiential therapies you choose for certain hours of the day.
For example, you might attend group therapy and individual therapy for one week and choose to incorporate yoga, art therapy, and nutritional counseling or involvement in mindfulness and family therapy.
At our outpatient treatment center, you will come to our Atlanta mental health facility three days per week during the day and participate in multiple sessions. You are responsible for transportation and meals, but other services will be provided on-site.
We provide a range of therapies, including:
- Individual therapy
- Experiential therapy
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
- Attachment-based family therapy
- Group therapy
- Family Counseling
- Narrative therapy
- Yoga
Each of these therapies can be a critical part of your recovery plan, but we take into consideration your personal preferences by giving you designated times throughout the day to choose which programs you want to be part of your Georgia mental health services.
Many of the same benefits associated with yoga and substance abuse are equally successful when applied to mental health disorder treatment like depression or anxiety. Many people in need of Atlanta mental health services can benefit from holistic care like mindfulness, meditation, and yoga.
Depression and anxiety can result in skewed perceptions or inaccurate realities. Clients might struggle with overwhelming fears, feelings of hopelessness, or anxiousness ungrounded in reality. Yoga practices provide a chance to identify those thoughts, determine where they are coming from, and pivot focus towards something more realistic.
The Berman Center recognizes that mental health issues do not just impact the individual; they impact the family. That is why we specialize in a Family Onboarding Document that provides family members with vital information about our treatment progress before their loved one starts a program. We offer resources and information when a loved one and their family come to our facility for a tour or assessment too.
To ensure healthy boundaries are set and that good communication becomes the cornerstone of treatment, our family care coordinator will work with all close family members at the time treatment begins.
