The Berman Center offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for individuals dealing with a variety of mental health issues – including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, schizoaffective disorders, and trauma and co-occurring substance abuse. Each client is assigned their own licensed counselor. Treatment begins with a unique plan of therapy sessions and community activities tailored specifically for each client.
As clients progress through the program, they move from an initial focus on gaining insight and working on past issues to a more present-centered, “here and now” focus. Later in the program, the focus shifts to the future as they work towards creating – or transitioning back into – a healthy and meaningful life. And, most importantly, what they need to do to stay well, long-term.
While there are no limits to the topics addressed during treatment, common issues include self-esteem and self-care, relationships, anger and resentments, family issues, getting through grief and loss, dealing with trauma, personal identity, sexual concerns, identity, spirituality/faith, and planning for the future.
